NACU Kicks off Second Year of Emerging Leaders Institute

February 1

This week NACU will welcome the second cohort of nearly 60 participants to its Emerging Leaders Institute, a series of workshops designed to help individuals understand and hone their leadership skills. This comprehensive series is designed to give participants the tools they need to become confident and effective leaders.

NACU’s leadership program consists of six modules which focus on a range of topics including communication, problem-solving, and decision-making. Participants will have the opportunity to work with and learn from other experienced professionals to gain an in-depth understanding of leadership principles and best practices.

“Leadership is a critical skill in all professions,” said Sean Creighton, NACU president. “Although there are many options for leadership training, our Emerging Leadership Institute has both a broad focus on leadership and a concentrated training in what leadership means at campuses like those in NACU. Participants can learn from others who are in roles at institutions just like theirs.”

Similar to the first cohort, the 2023 participants come from a range of areas including faculty and academic affairs, marketing, student affairs and services, advancement, finance, DEI, and admissions.

All modules will be held virtually, eliminating the time and funding barriers than can occur for in-person trainings. NACU is grateful to the Center for Creative Leadership, Jim Hundrieser at the National Association of College and University Business Officers, and leaders across its campuses for helping to shape and deliver the content for this impactful training program.
