Throughout his distinguished career in higher education, President Sean J. Creighton has developed major education and community partnerships, introduced innovative programming, and enhanced the reputation of the organizations he has served.
President Creighton Joins NACU
President Creighton began his tenure in 2019 as the fourth leader of the New American Colleges and Universities. He’s charged with working with NACU campuses to sustain through collaboration an integrated liberal, professional, and civic education. In his first year, he launched several new initiatives to strengthen NACU’s portfolio of research and professional development.
Presentations and Publications
President Creighton has presented and published extensively on higher education’s role in regional community, economic, and talent development, as well as on strategic collaboration for leading change. He currently serves as a principal investigator on research projects for the Kettering Foundation and TIAA Institute.
Leadership and Associations
A dedicated servant leader, President Creighton serves on the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Board of Trustees, International Leadership Association Board of Directors, TEDxDayton Leadership Council, and Community Advisory Board for the public television station ThinkTV. He also completed ten years of public service as an elected school board member in Yellow Springs, Ohio.
Prior to Joining NACU
President Creighton served as President at the Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education, where he now holds the title of president emeritus. He worked with public and private institutions of higher education, including securing over $60 million in funding to support talent development for the Air Force Research Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio and cybersecurity education and research for the Cincinnati-Dayton region.
