TRANSFORMING THE ACADEMY PROJECT

This academic year NACU’s programming will tackle Transforming the Academy, working with strategic partners to challenge our campuses to reinvent and evolve our sector of higher education. In addition to discussions about Blue Ocean Strategy® within our learning communities, the following conversations, sponsored by the Alera Group, are scheduled for the fall semester:

A New Approach to Marketing and Recruiting

3 – 3:50 pm ET | Thursday, October 3, 2024

John Katzman, CEO at Noodle and educational entrepreneur

Colleges and universities have been marketing themselves in the same way for decades; they buy large lists, send out email or mail driving prospective students to a landing page, and then use standardized campaigns to send information to them. As demographics tighten, competition heats up, and access to good lists becomes more expensive, this approach is failing.

Noodle and CCA market hundreds of undergraduate and graduate online programs. We are pioneering a new approach to bring what we have learned to on-campus programs, incorporating:

  • Efficient digital media buying
  • High-value content strategy driving qualified leads
  • Data-segmented campaigns
  • AI-supported admissions counseling from first contact to first semester drop-add
  • Faster, more transparent financial aid processing

Working with NACU, Noodle will pilot our approach this fall and winter, and hope to prove ourselves an effective partner in time for next summer. Please join us to learn more about this new approach.

Controlling Health Care Costs in Higher Education

3 – 3:50 pm ET | Thursday, October 10, 2024

The Alera Group

Following a feasibility study of how institutions can work together to protect themselves from risk and high premium increases, the New York Six and the Alera Group created Health4Edu.

Health4Edu is a stop-loss captive designed to protect institutional autonomy (plan design, network, etc.) while utilizing the strength of numbers to obtain long-term financial sustainability. Health4Edu members are also benefiting from PURPC (Preferred University Rx Purchasing Coalition), a much larger coalition of institutions who band together for the best rebates and discounts on drugs. Whether your institution is self-funded and experiencing budget volatility or fully-insured and facing unsustainable renewals, consideration of Health4Edu is feasible.

Health4Edu created this brief flipbook link that tells the story of inception, shares the schools involved, and has some nice quotes/snippets. Please join us to learn more about the program, Health4Edu’s experience in higher education, and take a deep dive into the cost of faculty/staff benefits.

Optimizing Facility Operations

3 – 3:50 pm ET | Thursday, October 17, 2024

Chris Cynkar, Global Enterprise Partner at ERA Group

NACU campuses know the importance of maintaining the full range of campus facilities – classrooms, offices, dining facilities, athletic fields, residence halls, common areas. Additionally, there is likely a long list of deferred maintenance projects for which there is just never enough funding or time. We are hosting a discussion with Chris Cynkar of ERA Group to discuss best practices around integrated facility management and what other campuses are doing to optimize facility operations, reducing expenses that helps the bottom line or can be reallocated to new projects. Please join us to learn more about the program, ERA’s experience in higher education, and take a close look on how to optimize your facilities spend.
